INDIA
Even before starting to write this introduction, I realise that it’s a futile attempt to summarise the experience of India. Color, smells, tastes, history, beauty, chaos, culture, diversity, religion, light... it comes at you with an indescribable intensity.
It sticks. Searing the memory in your being, changing you forever. And, I want more.
I met Steve McCurry at one of his talks in Singapore (2012); asking him what one of his strongest career memories was and he promptly responded "the Kumbh Mela, India - just amazing". And with that, I planned for the Maha Kumbh Mela (Prayag, 2013) which changed the course of my life by starting me on my photography career.
From Holi at Mathura to the Dandia in Bombay, and from the Kumbh to meeting some of the most amazing people in Jaisalmer, it is an understatement to say that we only scratched the surface with this beautiful country with our time.
You only have to look at Nehru's book - Glimpses of World History that attempts to summarise India’s context in the world; a tome it is and a very small tip of it’s 5000 + year past.
Here is a selection of images from my various visits.
